Overview

PrimeSkills is PrimeTech's answer to two stubborn problems in African talent. Employers don't trust the skills listed on a CV, and there is no good infrastructure connecting Nigerian undergraduates to credible Students' Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) placements. The platform handles both. It runs adaptive skill assessments and digital certification for working professionals, manages SIWES placements end-to-end for tertiary students and the companies hosting them, and serves both pools to a single employer-facing job-matching layer.

The challenge

Two problems sit alongside each other. On the professional side, hiring teams burn weeks screening CVs that turn out to be exaggerated while genuinely capable candidates get filtered out for the wrong reasons. On the student side, SIWES - Nigeria's mandatory industrial training scheme is still run on PDFs, paper logbooks, and ad-hoc WhatsApp coordination, with students struggling to find quality placements and host companies struggling to evaluate them in any standardised way. Both problems share the same root cause: there is no neutral, trusted layer between talent and opportunity. PrimeSkills is that layer.

What we built

Three interlocking flows under one platform.

For working professionals: a library of 50+ adaptive skill assessments (Microsoft Excel, Python, SQL, Data Analysis, Communication, Project Management, Digital Marketing, Customer Service, and more), a 70%-or-better certification threshold, automatically issued digital badges and shareable certificates, and a job board that surfaces roles matched to verified competencies.

For SIWES students and host companies: a placement directory where students register their institution, department, year, and preferred industry; companies post SIWES openings with role, duration, and stipend; and the platform matches students to suitable placements based on field of study and verified skills. Once a student is accepted, their complete a digital logbook with weekly entries reviewable by both their industrial supervisor and their institutional coordinator, and final evaluations flow back as a structured competency record the student can carry into post-graduation job applications.

For employers: a job-posting workspace, access to a pre-verified talent pool spanning full-time, contract, and SIWES placements, candidate filters keyed to assessment results, and a screening flow designed to cut time-to-hire significantly.
